GLIMMERS: THE BLOG

Glimmer Definition: a faint or wavering light.

A glimmer is a micro-moment that cues the nervous system to feel safe, calm, or joyful, acting as the opposite of a trigger. Coined by Deb Dana (Dana, D. (2018). The Polyvagal Theory in Therapy: Engaging the Rhythm of Regulation. W.W. Norton).

Glimmers are everywhere, but because of a "negativity bias" in the brain, they often go unnoticed. Setting an intention to spot them can increase their positive impact on your daily life (Baumeister et al., 2001; Rozin & Royzman, 2001).

Glimmers Blog: surrendering to joy within the journey to meet myself in the practice of being present. It is opening the window and letting in the crisp, fresh air and morning sunshine. Being present is a practice of noticing the many glimmers within myself, within you, and in our lives—quiet moments that surround us. These are the small, meaningful moments of joy.

When we lean into that Divine light within us, we find it especially on hard days, in heavy moments, and through challenging seasons. May we know the grace that is abundant and sufficiently present for us always.

Here's to holding space.
